Monitoring & Inspections (EES)

"Monitoring and Inspection" is also known as "Evaluation of Existing Septic System (EES)".

An inspection of an existing septic system is required regularly during the life of the system.

State code, WAC 246-272A  requires an inspection every three (3) years for conventional gravity systems that do not include a pump and an inspection annually for all systems that include a pump (all alternative systems). Jefferson County Code requires that the inspections be completed by an approved entity.

Most systems require an inspection at the time of property sale. Some systems require inspection when a building permit is applied for.

See list of individuals certified to complete the inspections can be found at: Certified Professionals.

Downloadable copies of the MONITORING INSPECTION form, instructions, and additional information on how to request and prepare are provided at Forms/Applications.
