Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
This board is comprised of nine members residing in Jefferson County; three members representing equally each of the County Commissioner’s districts. Appointments are made by the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners for two-year terms. Chairman and vice-chairman of the Advisory Board are elected annually among the members.

Advisory Board Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist in development of programs and policies
- Review and comment upon proposed rules, policies, or ordinances prior to their adoption
- Oversee development, revisions, and amendments to the Jefferson County Parks, Open Space and Recreation Plan
Advisory Board Meetings
Beginning June 2019, the Advisory Board's regular meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of every other month, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the main conference room at the Jefferson County Public Works office in Port Townsend. The remaining 2019 regular meetings dates are: August 7, October 2, and December 4. For 2020 and future years, the regular meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of February, April, June, August, October, and December.

Advisory Board Vacancy
A chance to get involved and make a difference - Jefferson County is seeking one volunteer Parks and Recreation Advisory Board member. There is one position open in County Commissioner District 3. Projects and roles of the board include helping with the Parks, and Recreation Comprehensive Plan Update, advising the County Commissioners; assisting and supporting the organization in its mission of providing 22 parks and facilities, including HJ Carroll, Memorial Field, the PT Rec. Center, and Gibbs Lake; as well as a host of recreation programs.
