Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
This board is comprised of nine members residing in Jefferson County; three members representing equally each of the County Commissioner’s districts. Appointments are made by the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners for two-year terms. Chairman and vice-chairman of the Advisory Board are elected annually among the members.

Advisory Board Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist in development of programs and policies
- Review and comment upon proposed rules, policies, or ordinances prior to their adoption
- Oversee development, revisions, and amendments to the Jefferson County Parks, Open Space and Recreation Plan
Advisory Board Meetings
Regular meetings are held on the first Thursday of February, April, June, August, October, and December, from 3 PM to 4:30 PM in the main conference room at the Jefferson County Public Works office in Port Townsend when in-person meetings are allowed and via Zoom. Advisory Board Vacancy
A chance to get involved and make a difference -
The Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is seeking a volunteer advisory board member from district 3. This is a team oriented, cooperative, dynamic, and dedicated advisory board with a number of interesting park and policy projects that could impact facilities such as the Port Townsend Rec. Center, Memorial Field, HJ Carroll Park, Gibbs Lake Park, Lake Leland Campground, Oak Bay Campground, Quilcene Campground, North Beach Park, Indian Island Park, and recreation programs such as Rec. Soccer and Basketball.
The board meets six times/year for 1.5 hours. The remaining meetings in 2022 are June, August, October and December. The meeting time is currently from 3pm to 4:30pm. Board members participate in meetings that focus on community input, problem solving, and planning. Members also have the option of volunteering in our parks, attending events, engaging with our recreation programs, and doing special project work.
