  • All Declarations of Candidacy must be received before the close of business on the last day of the filing period. Declarations of candidacy received after this date, regardless of the postmark, are invalid. 
  • The filing fee in nonrefundable even in the event of a withdrawal. 
All candidates are encouraged to file a Declaration of Candidacy online. For help, please contact your filing office, 
Jefferson County Elections. Assistance is available Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

Online Candidate Filing: 

Click here to file online: The online candidate filing portal will only be available from Monday, May 15th at 9:00 am until Friday, May 19th at 4:00 pm. 

  • You must submit before 4:00 pm sharp on Friday, May 19. The portal will stop receiving declarations at that time.
  • Mobile devices are not recommended.
  • Payment must accompany the declaration before an election official can process it.
  • Please allow 24-48 hours for candidacy approval. You will receive a confirmation email to the candidate email address.

Requirements to file online:
  • Be registered to vote in the district for which you are filing.
  • Pay with Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.
  • Provide a valid email address. 
  • Submit by 4:00 pm on Friday.
