Overview
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Cadet Program is a volunteer program for applicants ages 16 to 21 years old interested in law enforcement, criminal justice, public safety, and homeland security (or similar) careers to gain firsthand knowledge of these fields by working side by side with local law enforcement in the community. Interested applicants ages 14 and 15 will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are encouraged to apply. Cadets are held to the same standard as law enforcement and represent the Sheriff's Office in a professional capacity. Cadets are therefore expected to adhere to a policy manual set forth by JCSO, which can be reviewed here.
Cadets will be involved in ride-alongs, festivals, community service events, and various training activities, much like their law enforcement counterparts.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to review our policy manual. If a candidate meets the requirements set forth in the manual, and is interested in joining the program, please print out and complete this application form. Once complete, return the application to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office front desk.
