Clean Water Projects

Jefferson County's clean water projects provide regular monitoring of bays, streams and rivers to assure they are not contaminated with non-point source pollution such as fecal coliform bacteria.

Data collected through these projects are analyzed and long-term trends are assessed. Through the pollution identification and correction (PIC) process problem areas are identified and addressed to correct failing septic systems and agricultural practices that degrade surface water quality.
