Customer Assistance Meeting (CAM)

The Department of Community Development's 'coaching service' is provided through customer assistance meetings for direct consultation with our planning and building staff. This service was developed and previously subsidized by the EPA-funded Watershed Stewardship Resource Center grant over the last few years. With the grant ending, we will continue to provide 15 minutes of free coaching to customers then charge an hourly CAM Fee for more extensive discussions, project guidance, and additional research. Getting Started

To get started, submit your completed CAM Intake Form to us by mail, fax, or email or bring it with you during scheduled drop-in hours (first come, first served):
Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Wednesday and Thursday, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Effective June 3rd, 2019:
  • Customers will be able to schedule and pay for appointments online.
  • Appointment times will be available Tuesday - Thursday 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm
  • Walk-in hours will be changed to Monday through Thursday 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
  • A fee will be required for all customer assistance meetings.


Depending on staff availability and the information you seek, your question may be answered 'on the spot' or require advance payment and scheduling.

The paid CAM has a minimum fee of $100 for 1 hour, not including the first 15 minutes of staff time. Additional time over one hour is billed in 15 minute increments based on our hourly rate of $90. If a permit is applied for within 1 year, $100 is applied to the permit at intake. Upon submittal of a complete CAM Intake Form and up-front payment of the CAM Fee, an appointment will be scheduled for your CAM coaching session. Many customers find that this up-front expense saves them time, money and headaches in the long run!
