Quilcene School-Based Health Center Proposal to Be Discussed at August 13th Public Meeting

Quilcene School District, Jefferson County Public Health, and Jefferson Healthcare invite parents, students, teachers, and interested community members to be part of the conversation about a proposed school-based health center in Quilcene.

The meeting will be Tuesday August 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Quilcene Community Center.  Light refreshments will be provided.

“School-Based Health Centers are recognized nationally as one of the best ways to provide high-quality, efficient, and appropriate health services to students who may otherwise not have access to needed care,” said Vicki Kirkpatrick, director of Public Health.

The meeting will discuss school-based health centers, how they are working in two other Jefferson County schools, and what is being proposed for Quilcene.

There are over 2500 School-based health centers throughout the country. Services typically include diagnosis and treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, management of chronic health conditions, reproductive health, sports physicals, immunizations, and counseling for depression and stress.

For more information call Public Health at 360-385-9400, or Sean Moss, principal Quilcene School, at 360-302-1294.
