[ARCHIVED] Funding Opportunity for Marine Stewardship, Restoration & Engagement in Western Jefferson & Clallam

Port Townsend – The North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee (NPC MRC) invites project proposals for the 2021-23 funding round. Eligible projects will be designed to promote marine stewardship, restoration and citizen engagement focused on the resources and communities of the North Olympic Peninsula’s Pacific Coast. Up to $65,000 is potentially available to be awarded to successful project sponsors. Projects must fall within at least one of six broad categories as defined by the Coastal MRC Program Performance Benchmarks: Marine Habitats, Marine Life, Marine and Fresh Water Quality, Sound Science, Education and Outreach, or Coastal Communities. Examples of project types funded by the NPC MRC in the past include:

1) Interpretive products and projects about the marine environment and its use.

2) Science projects including research, monitoring and data analysis by professionals or citizen science groups.

3) Coast‐wide projects that engage more than one of the Pacific Coast’s Marine Resources Committees (MRCs) in a joint effort.

                4) Ocean literacy projects including K‐12 marine science education and citizen science.

                5) Projects to study and control invasive species in coastal environments.  

Key dates for applicants include:

The North Pacific Coast Marine Resources Committee promotes awareness and stewardship of coastal ecosystems and natural resources of western Clallam and Jefferson Counties. MRC members and participants learn about resource conditions and coastal community needs, participate in local and regional projects, and sponsor activities and studies having to do with the unique management issues of Washington's outer coast.
