December 14, 2020, around 11 pm, Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle driving around the Glen Cove area with its lights off. The area had seen a recent spike in burglaries and so deputies set out on foot patrol to locate the vehicle.
Deputy Justin Coronado located the vehicle which still had its lights off and using his flashlight he ordered the driver to pull over. The driver, who had his window down, ignored the command and accelerated away rapidly. Deputy Coronado called out on his radio and Sergeant Brandon Przygocki was able to locate the vehicle and catch up to it. The Driver pulled over, but once again accelerated away from Sergeant Przygocki. After a three-mile pursuit Deputy Adam Newman was able to conduct a successful PIT maneuver and the driver, Brian Grace of Kitsap County, was taken into custody. During his arrest it was determined that he was under the influence of controlled substances. A search of Mr. Grace and his vehicle led to the discovery of fentanyl pills disguised as oxycontin and numerous items of stolen property.
On October 1, 2021, Mr. Grace pled guilty to burglary in the second degree and DUI. Mr. Grace was ordered to serve electronic home monitoring, successfully complete treatment for abuse of controlled substances, and pay restitution to the victims.
