1. How can I pay property taxes?

Pay in person at the Jefferson County Treasurer's Office during office hours - Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.  We do accept Cash in person in the Office.

Pay with check, money order or cashier’s check (no cash) and send by USPS, or use the Treasurer’s drop box:

USPS Mail	Jefferson County Treasurer, PO Box 571, Port Townsend, WA 98368 Make sure the postmark is on or before the property tax due date to avoid interest or penalties.
Drop Box	Located in the parking lot behind the Jefferson County Courthouse at 1820 Jefferson St, Port Townsend Three additional drop boxes available for payment by check in April and October are located at: Port Townsend 1st Security Bank of Washington Port Hadlock 1st Security Bank of Washington Port Ludlow Sound Community Bank
Online	Pay by credit card (Visa, Master Card, Discover or American Express), Visa Debit, Electronic Check. Information on convenience fees are online at Pay Online -  Property Taxes and Assessments webpage.
Phone	Pay by phone at 1-877-812-8072. You must have your property ID number and know the amount to pay from your statement.
In-Person	Jefferson County Treasurer's Office at 1820 Jefferson St, Port Townsend during office hours - Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.

2. Can I pay property taxes with cash?

Yes, you may pay in Cash during office hours in the Jefferson County Treasurer's Office.

3. How can I get a receipt for my payment?

Include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your payment to receive a receipt. Please know that we have over 20,000 taxpayers in our county, and we cannot afford to print and mail receipts. Your canceled check or proof of payment does qualify as a receipt for tax purposes.

4. Can I pay property taxes in person in the Treasurer’s Office?

Yes. The Treasurer’s Office is open to the public for property tax payments. 

5. Why didn't I receive a statement?

Statements are mailed in February of each year.  Property owners receive statements by mail or by eNotices.  If you, your spouse or a co-owner signed up for receiving statements electronically by eNotices, you will not receive a paper statement.

There is not an option to pay from your eNotice tax statement. Please read further for payment options.

6. Will you mail me a new property tax statement?

You may access parcel information including taxes owed on the Property Search page, and you may email us at treasurerstaff@co.jefferson.wa.us to request a duplicate statement by email.  We do not mail hard copy duplicate statements due to the expense.  A statement, envelope and postage to provide duplicate statements for our more than 20,000 property owners with 30,000 parcels is cost-prohibitive.

7. Where can I find Information about Foreclosure Assistance?

Housing counseling and legal assistance may be available at little or no cost to property owners. If you would like help determining opportunities to resolve delinquency and avoid foreclosure, you may contact the statewide homeownership hotline at 1-877-894-HOME (4663).

8. Where can I find information about the Senior/Disabled Exemption Program to reduce my property taxes?

Senior citizens and disabled persons may contact the Assessor’s Office at (360) 385-9105 to determine if they qualify for a property tax exemption on their owner-occupied residence.  You must be 61 years old on December 31st of the year in which you apply or be fully disabled, and household income must be $40,000 or less. (RCW 84.36.381). Additional medical deductions are allowed starting in 2021 for 2022 taxes (RCW 84.36.383 (1) (d) - (m)). http://www.co.jefferson.wa.us/157/Senior-Disabled-Exemption
